Points to keep in mind about foreign cultures and customs when hiring foreign nationals or expanding overseas
With globalization, many people may feel that they have more opportunities to interact with people from other countries than before.
However, the unique Japanese way of thinking, such as "mindful communication and reading the atmosphere," may not be understood by foreign people.
In other words, understanding foreign customs and culture and facilitating mutual understanding and communication with foreign people will have a positive impact on corporate activities.
Anticipated Future of Corporate Training
The cost of corporate training is expected to increase in the future. There are three reasons for this.
First, the employment of foreign nationals in Japan and the expansion of the Japanese workforce overseas are increasing. As a result, understanding foreign cultures and customs will become more necessary than ever before, and new learning issues such as mutual understanding with foreigners are expected to emerge.
Secondly, the age balance within corporate organizations is becoming more precarious than ever before. The retirement age has been extended, and it is no longer unusual for employees to be working at the age of 70. However, there are differences in many aspects between older employees and newer employees. Mutual understanding between the two age groups will be even more necessary in the future. Companies must also make efforts to create such opportunities.
Finally, there is the issue of intensifying competition. Taking job offers as an example, it is common to see companies listing high value-added skills and requiring a solid number of years of experience. And yet, the wages are below those of ordinary salaried workers. This is not a good way to attract applicants. The reason they offer jobs in the first place is because there are not enough people to fill them. It is necessary for the country as a whole to improve the quality of workers by providing appropriate training and learning opportunities within companies.
However, we cannot continue to increase training expenditures alone. It is necessary to carefully examine the allocation of budgets and allocate them to strategic investments in training.
